The WarYoga Akhara, is the distributed network of practitioners who have sought out the WarYoga banner. These WarYogins practice the holistic WarYoga system of strength and conditioning, combat sports, as well as a philosophical and spiritual path drawn from the Indo-European tradition.
Akhara
The akhara is the grappling and strength temple-gym of India in which Kushti wrestlers practice their holy art. The bodyweight exercises such as the bethak and dand form the foundation of the practice, with tools like the gada and gar nāl forming the backbone of a powerful physical training regimen known as vyayam. These techniques have been brought to the WarYoga Akhara from Indian gurus with an unbroken lineage stretching back hundreds of years. The body is the seat of the sacrificial fire. The WarYogin heats it with his exertions. This fire is where the WarYogin sacrifices his self, to the Self, within himself.

Zurxāne
The zurxāne is the Iranian “house of strength” where pahlavānān athlete-heroes perform their physical exercises and wrestle to the holy chants of their moršed. From dynmic narmeš stretches to the mil swings and šena push ups, the champions of Iran practice their ancient sport of varzeš-e pahlavāni. This practice has been passed on to the WarYoga Akhara by the miyandars and masters of ancient Iranian houses of strength. The WarYogin fights in the Greater Holy War within himself. He seeks to destroy the forces of Darkness so that the the Light will prevail.

Palaístra
The Palaístra is the Ancient Greek wrestling school where the three heavy sports were practiced within the gymnásion. An extension of the Akademía, it created great athlete-philosophers like Plato. The practices of pálē, pygmakhía, and pankration hardened men, while the spiritual and philosophical teachings honed their minds. The WarYogin initiates himself into the mysteries through physical and metaphysical practice. He seeks to go beyond the One, transcending to the centre of the cosmic wheel.
We continue the daily work. We refine our techniques and philosophy. We cultivate ourselves and connect with those who are on the same journey. WarYoga is a system of purification that involves austerity through exercise, grappling, internal alchemy, and ancient Indo-European ritual.
The WarYoga books are for those who want to deepen their understanding.
